Some Silicon Valley tech companies have begun offering a new perk for its employees, allowing them paid time off to take part in protests, according to the Washington Post. One company, for instance, a San Francisco-based start-up called Fauna, let nearly a dozen employees take unlimited paid leave to protest, as well as for other political activities like attending rallies, voting, and writing letters. Fauna recruiting director Amna Pervez explained, "We want our employees to know that we absolutely support the betterment of our country. People can take whatever they feel like they need to make a meaningful difference." Even Facebook allowed employees to take time off work for a pro-immigration rally, with a company spokesman saying, "At Facebook, we're committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where employees feel comfortable expressing their opinions and speaking up about issues that are important to them."
