Deere Announces More Than 160 Layoffs At Quad Cities Plants

MOLINE, Illinois - Deere and Company announced that over 150 positions would be cut at two Quad Cities locations. Company officials announced this is an "indefinite layoff" but few details were given.

The company states that due to decreased customer demand, they plan to lay off 50 production workers at the John Deer Harvester Works on October 28th. Another 113 production employees at the John Deer Davenport Works would be placed on indefinite layoff starting November 18th.

The company states the layoffs are also necessary due to lower income expectations. Deere balances the size of production workforce with customer demand for products at individual factories.

Layoffs will apparently only impact these two locations as no others were mentioned by company officials.
