The administration that the United States installed in Iraq told us in 2011 that it did not want a Status of Forces Agreement so that some American soldiers could remain in Iraq.

We don't like you Yankees, we don't need you Yankees, get out of our country. The mere fact that you conquered it, and installed us in power does not mean we have to let you stay in our country.

Iraq's army, such as it was, is doing its best imitation of the Army of South Viet Nam in 1975. It is falling apart and refusing to fight.

So the Iraqi leadership would now like a Status of Forces Agreement and maybe a hundred thousand Americans to keep them in power. Of course, some of those nasty Americans they never did like might die keeping them in power, but they can tolerate the American presence as long as they get some more money.

Sound like a good deal to you?
