A 7 year old autistic girl was rescued from the top deck of the Estherville water tower Thursday.
KWQC TV 6 reports that Estherville firefighters were sent to the tower at North 8th and 14th Avenue North around 10 a.m. and saw the girl on the tower's ladder. The first found a tarp and spread it out under the girl in case she would fall. Firefighters used a ladder truck to reach her. The girl's head was apparently stuck between two ladder rungs and she had to be cut free.
The girl's family lives nearby and had reported her missing. The rescue effort took about an hour and the girl was reunited with her family.
