Johnson County, Iowa - Those blackout license plates are going fast.Johnson County Treasurer's Office reports they ran out of the plates.The Iowa DOT sent supplies of the new plates directly to local treasurers' offices to save time so people didn't have to order them.The DOT reports they are not able to keep up production.
The plates are the fourth most popular in Iowa behind the University of Iowa, ISU and the Goldfinch plates.They cost $35 for the standard plate and $60 for personalized plates.
The Johnson County Treasurer's office does not yet know when more will be available.
