A Rockford man is dead after driving off of the roadway and hitting a tree in Carroll County.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office says around 2:00 the afternoon of December 10th, deputies were called to U.S. Highway 52 just west of Dauphin Road, roughly a mile east of Savanna.
Once on the scene, crews found a vehicle on the south side of U.S. Highway 52. Initial investigations show the driver, 72 year old Willie March, of Rockford, was westbound on U.S. Highway 52 when he lost control and left the roadway.
The sheriff's office says the vehicle entered the ditch and then hit a tree. March was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
