(Bettendorf, IA) -- The Bettendorf police officer who fatally shot a man on Sunday has been identified.
On Friday, the Bettendorf Police Department identified Zachary Gish as the officer who shot and killed 49 year old Brian Gregory Scott. Gish has been with the department for three years, and remains on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation into Scott's death.
Bettendorf Police say Officer Gish voluntarily interviewed with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. Once the investigation is finished, Gish’s interview along with the investigative facts will be forwarded to the Scott County Attorney’s Office for review.
