She voted twice in elections for federal officials. Aliens are forbidden to vote in federal elections. The United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit heard her appeal of the order that she be deported to Peru on January 17, while Mr. Obama was still president. The appeals court upheld her deportation, breaking apart a family. Voter ID in Illinois would have saved her.
