The Iowa Department of Transportation has the authority to order cities to remove automated traffic enforcement cameras from highways and interstates. They always had it, but now a Polk County judge has ruled that IDOT can shut them off.
The ruling will be appealed. Cedar Rapids in 2015 issued 131,242 tickets on Interstate Highway 380, and they want to keep the money rolling into their coffers.
