There is this company called Fanny Mae that is controlled by the U.S. government. We bailed it out when its mission of loaning money for home loans to people who could not pay the money back caused it to crash ten years ago.
Now it's in trouble again. It continued to loan money to people to buy houses, and they did not pay it back. It needs $3.7 billion in taxpayer money to continue to give money to people who can't pay it back.
