DAVENPORT, Iowa - The city of Davenport ticketed and towed 78 vehicles in violation of the city’s second snow emergency Monday night, and those car owners paid $20,000 in fines and towing charges.

Public Works Director Nicole Gleason tells KWQC-TV6 the vehicles were ticketed and towed so snow plow crews could clear snow piles left after last weekend’s snow storm.

The second snow emergency was issued specifically for downtown and parts of the Hilltop neighborhood, requiring cars to be moved so plowing could being at 10 p.m. on the night of the emergency.

Vehicles left on the road got $35 dollar tickets from the city, and towing fees cost around $230 per car, more for larger vehicles, according to Gleason.

She says vehicles were not ticketed during the first snow emergency over the weekend
