Highway 34 between Iowa and Nebraska is open

Ames, Iowa -- The Iowa Department of Transportation says a portion of U-S Highway 34 west of Interstate 29, closed since March floods reopened just after 3:00 Friday afternoon. Traffic can use both westbound lanes, but eastbound travel is restricted to one lane. The DOT says Highway 34 is an important link between Sarpy County and Mills County, Iowa and give travelers another option to cross between Nebraska and Iowa in addition to Iowa Highway 2, which had been restored in a very limited manner using temporary measures.
