A body found in the South Skunk River Tuesday is identified as 24 year old Ashley Shafer of Oskaloosa.
Mahaska County Sheriff's Office found her body around 3 p.m. near the Glendale Access. Shafer was reported missing Monday. Authorities are not sure why she was in the river and her cause of death is under investigation by the Oskaloosa Police Department, the Mahaska County Sheriff's Office and the Division of Criminal Investigation.
There are reports that Shafer was last seen Sunday night at the Santa Clara Apartments in Oskaloosa and at the Glendale Access location.
Her cause of death remains under investigation but officials say there is no known threat to the public at this time.
