Two people died in a house fire at 7 a.m. Wednesday in Fruitland, Iowa. Fire crews from Fruitland, Muscatine, Letts and Wilton respond to the fire in the 2500 block of Stewart Road.
The Fruitland Fire Department found heavy smoke and flames when they arrived. They were able to get the fire under control in about a half-hour.
Officials say that two people died in the fire. Their names have not yet been released.
Several rooms in the home have severe damage from the fire and there is smoke and water damage throughout the building.
The Iowa State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating. Officials have not yet determined the cause and at this time it does not appear the fire was intentionally set.
About twenty firefighters responded and helped battle the blaze. No fire officials were hurt.
