Muscatine Jury Finds Woman Guilty In 1992 Murder

Muscatine County, Iowa - Annette Cahill of Tipton is found guilty of 2nd degree murder in the death of her former boyfriend, Corey Wieneke in 1992.

This was the second trial for Cahill. The first last march ended in a mistral after a jury was not able to reach a verdict. Cahill's second trial started Tuesday in Muscatine.

The 56 year old was charged in May of 2018 with first degree murder in Wieneke's death. Records show that his body was found on a bedroom floor in rural West Liberty in October of 1992. He had been beaten. Cahill was charged in 2018 when a woman came forward and told investigators that when she was 9 she heard Cahill confess to the murder. Cahill had pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors believe Cahill killed Wieneke because he was involved with another woman.

Cahill's sentencing date has not yet been set.
