CARROLL COUNTY, Illinois - The body of a 71 year old man was found in the Mississippi River around 5 a.m. Monday morning. The Carroll County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from people launching a boat who saw the body near Miller's Landing just north of Savanna, Illinois across from the Palisades State Park North entrance.
KWQC TV6 reports that person is identified as 71 year old Curtis Petersen of Park Forest, Illinois.
Authorities’ say Petersen suffered from dementia and may had become confused. He was apparently on his way home and became lost and ended on a road that went to the river and he accidently drove into the water.
Petersen was alone in his vehicle.
