Strong Wind Causes Semi To Roll On I-74 Near Galesburg

GALESBURG, Illinois - High wind caused a semi to roll on I-74 East just north of Galesburg.

Police say 42 year old Lanie Anderson of Des Moines was driving a truck with a trailer in the strong wind and lost control. The truck rolled onto its side, blocking the eastbound lanes near mile marker 40.

KWQC TV6 reports that a second semi and trailer swerved to avoid the accident and ended up in a ditch. That truck was driven by 67 year old Carl Anderson of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Both men were taken to hospitals to be checked out and are expected to be okay.

The accident caused the interstate to be closed from 8 a.m to 11 a.m. during the investigation. The semi was removed from the roadway and will be removed at a later time.
