COLONA, Illinois - A driver is in critical condition after an accident in Colona Wednesday morning. A KWQC TV6 reports a Colona Police officer saw a traffic violation and tried to stop the vehicle. The officer turned on the lights and siren but the driver refused to stop.
The vehicle crashed in the 1800 block of North at a curve on 400 East. Two people got out and ran but the officer remained at the scene for a backup. That is when they checked the vehicle and found it empty.
A short time later, a juvenile told officers there was an unconscious person in a ravine. Police found the male but have not yet said if it was a juvenile or an adult. The male driver was air lifted to a hospital. A female juvenile was treated and released from a hospital to her father.
