Monmouth Airport Hangar Construction Could Start This Fall

MONMOUTH, Illinois - The airport hangar damaged by a fire in October in Monmouth has been demolished and removed.

KWQC TV6 reports City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher says negotiations are underway to build a new hangar on the west side of the runway. They are working with the Division of Aeronautics and the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Construction on the new hangar could start this fall. It will hold ten planes.

The old hangar was covered by insurance. Steinbrecher says they will apply for both state and federal funds for the project.
