Arrest Made After Dog Sprayed With Toxic Chemical

MADISON COUNTY, Illinois - A dog named Charlie is fighting for his life after he was sprayed with a toxic substance that caused severe burns in Madison County, Illinois.

KWQC TV 6 reports that a Granite City man was arrested Tuesday. Charlie Johnson is charged with one count of animal torture and one count of aggravated animal cruelty.

Pound Pets Inc. rushed Charlie to Veterinary Specialty Services in Manchester, Missouri. A Facebook post states that Charlie was given a small chance of survival.

The Madison County Attorney's Office is conducting the investigation and reports that Johnson was not Charley's owner.
