DES MOINES, Iowa -- A man is facing motor vehicle homicide charges after a Des Moines traffic accident Thursday afternoon killed two people.
Police say a car driven by Alejandro Dean Contreras,23, was southbound on SW 9th Street when it hit a Ford Taurus driven by Mauricio Ruiz Quintana, 26, of WIndsor Heights.
Quintana and his passenger, Brayan Martinez Ruiz, 22, died at local hospitals.
A passenger in Contreras' car, Jessica Kay Bower, 21, of Indianola suffered minor injuries.
Police say excessive speed may have been significant factor in the crash.
Contreras is charged with with two counts of Vehicular Homicide By Reckless Driving.
