The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim in a Sterling homicide investigation.
Investigators say 43 year old Jason Chapman, of Sterling, was shot Saturday night. The sheriff’s office says they were called to a home in the 24000 block of Front Street in rural Sterling around 12:30 Sunday morning. Once deputies arrived on scene they found Chapman deceased in the front yard of his home.
The sheriff’s office says the investigation is highly active. Illinois State Police are assisting them with the investigation. No further details were released at this time.
