DES MOINES, Iowa - Secretary of State Paul Pate says more than 570,000 Iowans have requested absentee ballots for the upcoming election.

The number represents more than a third of the total votes cast in the entire 2016 election.

Pate's announcement comes after he sent absentee ballot request forms to every voter for this election.
