(Geneseo, IL) -- The woman killed in a house fire on Christmas night in Geneseo is being identified.
The Geneseo Police Department says 73 year old Connie Pond was found dead in the home after crews responded to a fire in the 400 block of East Pine Street just after 11:30 p.m.
An autopsy indicated the preliminary cause of death was smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office, but at this time the fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
The department said two other attached homes sustained damage from the smoke.
