Cities declare snow emergencies ahead of expected snow in Quad Cities area

(Quad Cities) -- As another winter storm sets it sights on the Quad Cities area, snow emergencies are being declared by a number of cities.

The weekend storm could bring rain, freezing rain and wet snow along with strong winds that will cause blowing and drifting snow.

Illinois:

  • Coal Valley: Will go in effect on Saturday at 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday.
  • East Moline: Will go in effect on Saturday at 3 p.m. and will go until 3 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Rock Falls: Will go in effect on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. and will go until 6 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 1.
    • During this Snow Emergency all odd/even and snow route parking restrictions will be in effect.
  • Rock Island: Will go in effect on Saturday at 12 p.m.
  • Sterling: Will go in effect on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 12 p.m.
    • After that time, all vehicles must be parked in accordance with the City of Sterling’s Snow Emergency Parking Regulations.
  • Walnut: Will go in effect on Saturday at 6 p.m. and will go until 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Iowa:

  • Blue Grass: Will go in effect on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 8 a.m. until 8 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 1.
  • Maquoketa: Will go in effect on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. and will go until 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1.
    • All cars parked along city snow routes must be relocated immediately.
