(East Moline, IL) -- City leaders in East Moline and the Social Security Administration are warning people about a scam making the rounds.
They say residents should be aware of a widespread Social Security imposter scam where the scammer coerces people into sending money by pretending to be government officials.
These types of scams are the number one type of government imposter frauds that are reported to the Federal Trade Commission. If you receive a suspicious call like this officials say to “slam the scam” and hang up.
