Iowa's dry conditions worsen

U.S. Drought Monitor

(Undated) -- Dry conditions have worsened in Iowa in the last. This week's U.S. Drought Monitor shows nearly all of Iowa in some form of drought. Most of the state is abnormally dry, with an expanding area in moderate drought. Counties in far northwest Iowa continue to be in severe drought. The dry conditions are an increasing concerns for Iowa's farmers, who have made tremendous progress on spring planting.

The National Weather Service is predicting sunshine and cooler weather over next few days. There's a chance for increasing clouds and chances for rain and a few isolated thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening.

Forecasters say there could be some lingering showers Sunday, with temperatures in the 50s.
