(Quad Cities) -- Health systems are reminding the public that although masks are no longer required in many places for those who are fully vaccinated, masks will still be required in healthcare settings.
Leaders at both UnityPoint Health - Trinity and Genesis Health System say masks will still be required in hospitals and all other health facilities.
UnityPoint Health - Trinity says:
“While masks are no longer required for fully vaccinated individuals in most settings and for most activities, guidance for healthcare settings remains unchanged at this time. This means we still require masks in all UnityPoint Health facilities where patient care is provided, including hospitals and clinics. We’re asking patients, visitors and team members to continue masking at our facilities to help protect vulnerable populations, including those who are not yet vaccinated. We understand the changes can be confusing and appreciate our communities’ support as we provide care during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Additionally, officials with Genesis Health System say:
“Here are policy points about mask policy at Genesis Health System hospitals and clinics:
- The new Iowa law restricting mandatory mask policies in school districts does not apply to health care.
- The CDC guidance on masking does NOT apply to health care settings.
- Masks are still required in Genesis facilities. Masks must be worn by all staff, visitors, and patients.
- We are committed at Genesis to protecting our patients, who rely upon us to provide care in safe surroundings
- Genesis visitor guidelines have not changed. We review them frequently.
- Genesis appreciates the public support and cooperation with this important health and safety measure.”
