The Iowa Department of Natural Resources releases a preview of what fall colors we can expect this year.

The DNR says leaves will start changing colors in northeast Iowa soon before spreading south.

The northern third of Iowa can expect colors to peak between the last week of September and the second week of October.

The best viewing time in central Iowa is the first three weeks of October.

In southern Iowa it's the second through fourth weeks.
