(Mt. Pleasant, IA) -- A college in southeast Iowa tried to warn Governor Kim Reynolds it was going under.
A response came too late.
Iowa Wesleyan University President Christine Plunkett sent a letter to the Governor in February, asking for $12 million dollars in federal pandemic aid to keep the school open, according to the Cedar Rapids Gazette.
By the time the imminent closure was announced in March, the governor then issued a statement declining the funds.
Iowa Wesleyan was also joined three other small private Iowa colleges each asking for $12 million dollars in relief.
The governor's office is still on hold regarding a decision with those schools.
