(Des Moines, IA) -- The sunspot that led to the northern lights (aurora borealis) being visible in Iowa, Nebraska, and much of the Midwest last month is about to face the Earth, again. The showing in early May was caused by the most powerful geomagnetic storm in nearly 20 years. The best chance for northern lights to be visible again is this week, Tuesday through Thursday, June 4th through the 6th. The northern lights are best seen in areas away from city lights.
