The older you get, the more you realize you cannot win on the Internet.
We almost lost Silent Bob Sunday night. Director Kevin Smith (Clerks, Mallrats and whether he likes it or not Cop Out) suffered a massive heart attack. The good news is he sought medical treatment and he's recovering. The great news for his fans is he's still "above ground". Considering Smith had a 100% blockage of his LAD artery things it appears that somebody was looking out for him.
It's not surprising that Smith has a ton of fans (I'm one). It's also not surprising that he would be an inspiration to a generation of actors like Chris Pratt . The fact that Pratt drew the ire of internet trolls for suggesting he was going to pray for Smith should be surprising. But it isn't. Internet trolls are monsters.
Pratt has the temerity to tweet, “Kevin, we don’t know each other too good, but I have loved you since ‘Clerks’ and I’m praying my ass off for you cause I believe in the healing power of prayer.”
Cue the internet garbage people.
"That's cool and everything but Doctors and nurses save lives not prayer."
This is 2018, folks: getting slammed for offering up prayers for someone who suffered a massive heart attack. The backlash against thoughts and prayers has now swung so far into the ridiculous that offering them up makes you a target.
