Immediately following President Trump’s July 9th announcement of Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court Justice nomination, Senator Chuck Schumer made clear his intention to stop Kavanaugh’s elevation to the highest Court in the land.
“I will oppose Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination with everything I have, and I hope a bipartisan majority will do the same. The stakes are simply too high for anything less,” Schumer said. “…If we can successfully block this nomination, it could lead to a more independent, moderate selection that both parties could support.”
So before even a second of Senate Judiciary Committee hearings, pursuant to Constitutional law outlined in Article Two, Schumer had already decided Kavanaugh needed to be blocked.
When allegations of sexual assault were levied by Christine Blasey Ford, the Democrats asked for – and were granted – a hearing to let Dr. Ford tell her story to the committee. Following the hearing, the Democrats then asked for – and were granted – an FBI investigation.
Results of the FBI investigation were released today and surprise, surprise, Chuck Schumer is not satisfied. “We had many fears that this was a very limited process that would constrain the FBI from getting all the facts. Having received a thorough briefing on the documents, those fears have been realized,” Schumer said.
The fact is, Democratic lawmakers are not interested in a fair process or finding the truth. The Democrats are interested in one thing – dictating the outcome of the nomination. Unless or until the Democrats get the results they want – successfully stopping or blocking Kavanaugh’s path to the Supreme Court – they will never be happy. You can have all the nomination hearings, witness testimony, and FBI investigations you want to get information and find the truth but the Democrats will still not confirm a nominee that does not vow to preserve Roe v. Wade. Democratic lawmakers are incapable of accepting an outcome other than the one they want and the way they react to the FBI investigation report will explicitly show that.
