In my October 5 blog "It's all about the outcome" I said "Unless or until the Democrats get the results they want - successfully stopping or blocking Kavanaugh's path to the Supreme Court - they will never be happy.
My point was that at the completion of the nomination process outlined by the Constitution - and also a supplemental process involving an FBI investigation - the Democrats would never accept an outcome in which Kavanaugh is confirmed and move on from it without further controversy. Without the outcome THEY wanted, there would be consequences.
And sure enough, today's "Republicans are going to pay for this" headline comes from CBS News: "Alumni and faculty call on St. Lawrence University to rescind Susan Collins' honorary degree." Yes, according to the story, alumni and faculty at Senator Collins' alma mater are sending letters to college administration asking them rescind an honorary degree awarded to her in 2017 as punishment for voting to confirm Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
So even though there was no corroborating evidence for Dr. Ford's story, the FBI investigation turned up nothing, and Kavanaugh breezed through the Constitutionally-sound Senate Judiciary hearings (in which no one asked Kavanaugh about allegations of sexual assault, his drinking habits, or his yearbook), Senator Susan Collins STILL needs to be punished for voting to confirm Kavanaugh?
It's all part of the liberal playbook - do as we say and give us what we want or you WILL be punished.
