Earlier this year, Bettendorf paid a consultant from Chicago to take a look at their fitness center, community center and aquatic center and recommend some upgrades. Well, we've got good news and bad news, Bettendorf. They've figured out a way to save you $500,000 a year. It's going to cost you close to $40 million.
The consultant thinks the best idea is to close the downtown center and build brand a new aquatic center as well as a new life fitness center. The price tag on the new buildings is close to $40 million BUT they argue the new facilities would be so more more efficient they'd practically pay for themselves over time.
