I can't figure Bruce Rauner out. He revealed in an interview with ABC7 in Chicago, that for much of this year he didn't want to be governor. Did he EVER want to be?
For reasons I can't understand, Rauner admitted his plan to have somebody, ANYBODY other than him, replace him on the ballot in November. That's not how it works, Bruce. If you wanted out, the time to eject was before the primary. Did they not cover this in your Governor of Illinois Orientation Packet?
You barely won a primary in March and then decided it would be a good idea to have Erika Harold, Karen McConnaughay or Cubs co-owner Todd Ricketts replace you as the candidate? How did you think that was going to happen? What's more baffling: that he thought this scheme was possible or that he's admitting it now?
When the Governor called in to AM Quad Cities, I asked him when his chances for re-election looked pretty bleak, why he was running. He told us a story about an old lady with tears in her eyes begging him to fight for her and the people of Illinois. That story was BS. He wanted to avoid the embarrassment of not getting reelected. How is this admission any less embarrassing?
