Looking To Find A Date? Maybe Try Going To Therapy

A recent survey by the dating app Pure found that 92% of 1,000 Americans polled prefer to date someone who has either seen a mental health professional in the past or is currently seeing one.

Seven in 10 singles are comfortable discussing mental health with someone new, and 50% find it attractive if therapy is brought up on a first date. Some believe that those who have undergone therapy are less likely to engage in unpleasant behavior like ghosting.

Therapist Esther Perel sees the pros and cons of this trend, explaining that while transparency about emotional health and counseling benefits can create greater self-awareness, some may hide behind "therapy speak" or use it to push others away.

Pure suggests staying open to a partner who hasn't been in counseling and not feeling like a red flag if one hasn't undergone therapy.
