Yesterday was an emotional day. We remembered our fallen from broadcasting with Max at Camp Dodge in the morning through you guys calling the show in the afternoon and everything in between.
We did our traditional things including reading you that excerpt from Marcus Luttrell's "Lone Survivor" about the heroic death of his team mate Michael Patrick Murphy. We shed tears on the air and a number of you did too.
We ended the show with Trace Adkins' "I Made It To Arlington" followed by Taps. I believed we all showed love of America and deep thanks for the ultimate sacrifice made by so many to keep us free.
Then I walked Magnus.
I was shocked to discover that this year only one other house in our street had taken the time to put flags out. Pictured is the front yard of our home. We have done this every year we have been here. The majority of other houses used to do something similar.
Maybe it has been declining and I just didn't notice it, but this year literally one other home took the time to put out extra flags.
And I was left with one question... Is patriotism dying in America?
