Mississippi Says Goodbye To Confederate Symbol on State Flag

Mississippi Flag

Mississippi is set to replace its state flag.

The state is the last in the country to display the Confederate emblem.

Mississippi's state legislature voted on Sunday to make the change. It now goes to Governor Tate Reeves, who has said he will sign the legislation into law.

Mississippians would then vote on a replacement flag in November.

Some people argue the Confederate-themed flag is part of their history, while others have been pushing for a new one amid ongoing protests around the U.S. against racial injustice.
