Airports in central and western Florida are shutting down as Hurricane Ian approaches. St. Pete-Clearwater International and Tampa International are both closed.

Meantime, all operations will stop at Orlando International at 10:30 tomorrow morning. Flights are also canceled at Orlando Sanford International Wednesday and Thursday.

Heavy rainfall is also pummeling parts of Florida as Hurricane Ian creeps toward the Sunshine State. Even with Ian's projected path changing to a more south-east direction, it's still expected to hit Florida's West Coast between Tampa and Fort Myers late tomorrow.

It'll bring deadly flooding and damaging winds. That's according to the latest report from the National Hurricane Center. The storm's winds have a maximum sustained speed near 120 MPH that's even higher with gusts.

Ian is currently a category three hurricane and is expected to get stronger later on today.
