THE SMOKING GUN: DOJ Launches PROBE Over Comey’s Classified ‘LEAKS’
The Department of Justiceâs internal watchdog agency is investigating whether James Comey leaked classified material within days of his departure from the FBI; saying at least two of his memos contained sensitive information.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the Justice Department Inspector General is probing whether the former bureau chief broke the law when he âleakedâ details of his private conversations with President Trump to a longtime associate.
âThe Justice Department inspector general is now conducting an investigation into classification issues related to the Comey memos, according to a person familiar with the matter. Mr. Comey has said he considered the memos personal rather than government documents,â writes the WSJ.
The bureau boss found himself in hot-water Thursday night after the DOJ released the âComey Memosâ to Congress, revealing the documents did -in fact- contain material that required redacting.
President Trump weighed-in on the issue Friday morning, saying his former FBI director intentionally âleaked classified information.â
âJames Comey Memos just out and show clearly that there was NO COLLUSION and NO OBSTRUCTION. Also, he leaked classified information. WOW! Will the Witch Hunt continue?â asked Trump on twitter.
