Counterfeit Cash Showing Up In Sterling

STERLING, Illinois - Sterling Police have received several reports of counterfeit money showing up at area businesses.

KWQC TV6 reports that police say be wary of those trying to pass along large bills and ask for bills to be traded out or make unusual requests for change. Police also ask businesses to review security features of bills and know how to check to make sure it is U.S. currency.

Sterling businesses who suspect counterfeit money are asked to call police at 815-632-6640. Businesses in other areas should call their local law enforcement.
