Burlington Man Convicted Of Sexual Assault Denied New Trial

BURLINGTON, Iowa - A man found guilty of sexual abuse was denied a motion for a new trial. Steven Mauck of Burlington was found guilty of holding a woman at gunpoint and sexually assaulting her last August.

KWQC TV6 reports that Mauck wanted a new trial after a comment was made on social media by a juror during the trial.

The judge stated that there was no specific evidence that a juror made case related comments on social media. The judge also said that the juror did not make statements to influence the verdict. That juror took the stand on Tuesday.

Mauck was sentenced to up to 25 years in prison with 70% served before he would be considered for parole.
