CLINTON, Iowa - Clinton is one of five Iowa cities to receive the Iowa Great Places Grant from the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs.
KWQC TV6 reports that city leaders say this will bring improvements to areas along the Mississippi Riverfront.
The city of Clinton will receive $248.000. The money will be used to complete improvements and amenity additions from South Bridge to Eagle Point Park along the river. On Monday, officials also talked about safety and accessibility for all.
The grant program is funded by the iowa Legislature through the Rebuild Iowa Infrastructure Fund. This is a matching grant so Clinton will also have to provide funding for the projects.
In 2007, Clinton received a Iowa Great Places Grant that was used for an art sculpture garden, restrooms at Eagle Point Park and a public beach.
