Jury Selection Underway In Murder Case Of Davenport Child

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Jury selection is underway for the murder trial of 28 year old Tre Henderson. He is charged with first degree murder and child endangerment resulting in the death of 5 year old Ja'Shawn Brussell in Davenport in April of 2018.

KWQC TV6 reports that the child's mother, Jacqueline Rambert called 911 because Ja'Shawn was choking and unresponsive. He was first taken to a local hospital and the airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals.

Ja'Shawn died on May 1, 2018. An autopsy showed that he died from blunt force injuries to the head. He also had a number of other injuries.

Henderson's trial is expected to last up to five days.

Police say both Henderson and Rambert were the boy's caregivers and both created risks to his safety.

Last month, Rambert pleaded guilty to multiple acts of child endangerment and child endangerment resulting in death. Her sentencing date is set for March 20th.
