More Than $39 Million In Illinois Recreational Marijuana Sales in January

CHICAGO, Illinois - Marijuana sales are brisk in Illinois since they legalized recreational marijuana on January 1st.

KWQC TV6 reports the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional regulation says sales during the month of January totaled more than $39 million.

During the 31 day period, 372,045 items were sold. About $30 million was purchased by Illinois residents while $9 million were out-of-state sales. A portion of every sale will be reinvested.

The Illinois Department of Agriculture will start accepting applications growers, infusers and transporters on February 14th. The deadline to apply is March 16th. The state will offer workshops for those with questions in the next several weeks.
