Gas Prices Tumbling In The Quad Cities

QUAD CITIES - The price at the pump is a bit more pleasant in the Quad Cities. Prices for regular unleaded in Iowa dropped 10-cents in the past week.

KWQC TV6 reports that there were a number of gas stations in Iowa Quad Cities advertising gas for $1.99 a gallon. One station in Bettendorf had $1.97 posted Wednesday morning.

According to GasBuddy, the drop is due to the coronavirus outbreak. Many people are in quarantine in China and that has dropped the demand for fuel. This trend will likely continue across the U.S. GasBuddy Analyst Patrick DeHaan says there could be a 25-cent to 35-cent drop over the next few weeks. That will depend on virus updates.

The lowest price in Iowa on Wednesday was at a Kwik Star station in Waterloo where customers were paying $1.85 a gallon.
