DAVENPORT, Iowa - Davenport's former housing programs manager Roy DeWitt is sentenced Friday to six years in prison. He was found guilty for secretly recording employees in a bathroom in a city owned apartment building back in 2017 and 2018.
KWQC TV6 reports this was a re-sentencing for DeWitt. Friday's sentence was given after the Iowa Appellate Court two months ago vacated the first sentence of 16 years in prison that included invasion of privacy.
Davenport Police started the investigation in March of 2018 at the Heritage High Rise on West 3rd Street. That investigation showed that De Witt hid a digital movie camera in an employee bathroom. Court documents showed that that bathroom required a key access. DeWitt was arrested in April.
DeWitt appealed his first sentence and the Iowa Appellate Court agreed to a new sentencing hearing. In a plea deal, prosecutors agreed to the six year sentence if DeWitt agreed by a designated date.
