QUAD CITIES - The big Quad Cities Grand St. Patrick's Day Parade is a go for Saturday but there are some changes this year.
KWQC TV6 reports there will be no candy, beads or other trinkets handed out during the parade. Organizers say this is a precaution against coronavirus. Officials say while this may be a disappointment to some the decision was made for the health of all attending.
There will also be hand sanitizer stations and other safety measures present during the parade. This is the only bi-state St. Patrick's Day parade in the U.S. It will start at 11:30 a.m. in Rock Island and end in downtown Davenport.
There are 14 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Iowa and 25 in Illinois.
