Illinois Issues "Stay At Home" Order Effective Saturday

ILLINOIS- Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced a statewide "stay at home" order that will go into effect at 5 p.m. on Saturday. It will remain in effect until April 7th.

KWQC TV6 reports residents will still be allowed to get groceries or go to a pharmacy, hospital, gas station and walk their dogs. All non-essential activities must stop during this time.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there are 163 new confirmed COVID-19 coronavirus cases. There are now 585 cases in 25 counties.

A news release reads the State of Illinois is working to increase testing capacity by working with Illinois hospitals. Illinois is also working with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to set up drive-thru testing sites at locations like Walmart and Walgreens in areas that seeing high case numbers.

New York announced today that only non-essential business employees should stay home. A similar order was issued in California Thursday.
